Change the Windows Vista Power Button

We have discussed how to change the Windows 7 power button, now we will discuss how to change the Windows Vista power button. The action to change  is different with Windows 7. You can configure this setting easily by using the advanced power settings panel. There are 2 ways to do this action :

Method 1

  1. Open Command Prompt (type cmd into the start menu search bar)
  2. Type powercfg.cpl,1

Method 2

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Choose Power Options.
  3. Choose Change Plan Settings.
  4. and the last choose Change Advanced Power Settings.

The next steps are :

  1. Browse down as shown to “Power buttons and lid”.
  2. Now you can change the options:
    a. Power button action
    – Changes the hardware power button action.
    b. Start menu power button
    – Changes the power button on the Start Menu.
  3. You can change the power button to either Sleep, Hibernate or Shut Down.
