This tutorial for Windows 7 and Vista.
If you are an admin account and create a user account for someone, by default in Vista and Windows 7, users are allowed to change their password. They just go into user accounts and simply change the password and can lock you out of their account. How do you stop their changing the password for their user account?. There are 2 options to solve this problem.
Option 1
- Right-click Computer and click Manage
- Click Local Users and Groups
- Click Users
- Go to the account you want to lock and right-click > properties
- Check User cannot change password
Option 2
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Then type lusrmgr.msc
- Click users
- Right-click their account > properties
- Check User cannot change password
*Note : lusrmgr.msc is only available for the Vista Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions.
